Burnside Equestrian Centre was originally established on Clemows Orchard, Albany, in 1983.

Due to the increasing development of the Albany area, the owners moved Burnside to Riverhead in September 1999.

Owner/Coach Sue Clemow spent 3 years working in riding centres in the UK and getting her BHSAI Certificate. After returning to NZ, Sue worked for a Saddlery Company before setting up the centre and getting her NZRC Level 3 Certificates.

Burnside is ILPH approved and specialises in teaching children aged 7 through 15 years to ride.

Burnside offers private tuition and small group rides. Most pupils ride once a week in their group of up to 4 riders.

Full day school holiday courses are run every holidays and include horse management as well as riding.

Residential home stay accommodation is also available.
